Thanks, is your kitchen by the driveway? I would appreciate the picture.

Warning: wrong approach. One should not set their house higher than absolutely necessary due to barriers. Every centimeter gained by not having to step over a threshold, or by making the step shallower, is a gift. Windows can be custom-made. For the window strip, it is enough to simply mark the viewing angle.

I admit I only just joined the thread and only skimmed through the first 5 pages. Given the shape and size of the plot, I would definitely rotate the house by 90 degrees. I prefer the open version with the current floor plan.

From a planning perspective, the aforementioned are also "simply just big."

Paint thieves' signs for "nothing to gain here, stingy people, biting dog" on the house wall; if necessary, also a sign saying "we know Jehovah and also the company Vorwerk," then at most someone will ring "on behalf of Telekom." Seriously: what hordes of peddlers pass by your current house on an average day?

I actually looked it up on Google now: Taller than Olivia Jones, 3 cm shorter than Ulrike Meyfarth from a planner’s perspective. It’s about a feeling here: When I lie on the sofa in my living room, I want to be able to switch off and the area should not be visible. A retreat. If I notice something from the street or driveway there (whether a car, one or 25 peddlers, postmen, etc. per day), then for me that would not be a retreat. I cannot understand how some home builders slam their living rooms shut with floor-to-ceiling window fronts and then, in the worst case, have the blinds or shutters down all day. That might be doable if you are alone out in the middle of nowhere or don’t place much value on privacy. Neither is the case for me.

...and that’s why... rotate the house by 90 degrees, shuffle the floor plan a bit, and put the kitchen roughly where the living room is now... then you won’t have that problem.

The question is whether that’s an option. If yes, then you have to "rethinking" where the stairs and entrance go – it doesn’t necessarily just mean simply mirroring the floor plan by 90 degrees.
