Are you planning wooden studs?

What speaks against a basement with living spaces?
The earthworks are the same as for a cellar (which is not needed) + living spaces on top.
The planning effort is a bit higher because at least one wall has no window.
You don’t need a garage, then parking space or carport

I find a wall without a window quite disturbing – you could certainly put technical equipment there, but what other rooms? Do wooden studs limit the possibilities and how critical is that regarding water?

I still find the idea of the front garage the most interesting. However, I have another question: how steep can the garage driveway be in such a case? At the moment it would be 0.5cm over 4m, which sounds feasible.

We have solid wood, not timber framing, but we did have discussions with companies that build timber frames. Timber framing was not possible for us in the basement due to the structural engineering. I can also imagine moisture issues. Then there are the unpleasant basements, which are actually not needed, and the house is placed on top or a retaining wall and the house in front. Very few integrate a proper basement with living space into the concept, hence the question. Building services don’t need a window, a storage room can do without one as well, a wall without a window does not harm the open plan area either, that’s where the TV goes. Our living spaces in the basement are bright, open and don’t feel like a basement at all.

Do you mean the garage driveway?
0.5 by 4 meters in front of the garage is really nothing.

We have 1.2 meters by 8 meters
my parents have over 2 meters by 5 meters
parents-in-law even more

Why don't you make a sketch of how it should be placed on your land. If the cars don't bother you on the terrace, it can be nicely integrated. I don't like cars in the house either, because of the noise.
