My former colleague (with wealthy parents-in-law) also had a similar saying:

You can’t choose your wife, only your parents-in-law.

How mean The choice of my parents-in-law is bad. However, the choice of my wife is great. Thank God there is some physical distance.

140m2 with a basement for 260k and turnkey. I would like to have 2 of those

It really depends on where and with what equipment it is built. Go to the Town & Country page, there you can get a townhouse with 150m² from 175,000.-€
For another 85k they will surely build a basement for you as well.
So don’t say it’s impossible right away, many companies really build overpriced or like to sell you every little gadget. Apparently, there are enough who can or want to afford it. However, quite a few start that way and then have no exterior landscaping for 10 years or not even the outside of the house plastered because the money was gone...

It actually always depends on where and with what equipment you want to build. Go to the Town & Country page, there you can get a Townvolla with 150m² from €175,000. For another €85k, they will certainly build you a basement too. So don’t say impossible right away, many companies really build overpriced or like to sell you every little gimmick. Apparently, there are enough who can or want to afford it. However, quite a few start like this and then have no outdoor facilities for 10 years or haven’t even plastered the outside of the house because the money was gone...

...whether plastered or unplastered is really a matter of taste now

Taste is still a matter of debate, but the fact that the walls, depending on the stone used, then soak up water is not so nice, or that the water penetrates into the joints and stains are already visible inside...

I currently have an offer for over 140m² + basement in turnkey condition with air-to-water heat pump for €230,000. (Additional construction costs of course still apply).
If I subtract the basement with €40-50,000, that would be a price per square meter of about €1,300/m²!

Floor coverings (in which quality) incl.? But anyway, nowadays quite affordable, especially in Bavaria... I really don’t understand the differences, one says it’s impossible to build under 350,000, others build for under 200,000.- Normally, you should be able to get by with 1600 - 1800 €/m² or 300-350/m³. Much cheaper is probably actually cheap, much more expensive for luxury or overpriced frills that not everyone needs or wants.
