You write that there is now the prospect of a plot of land after all? For me, a townhouse is out of the question, not even an end-terrace house. It would be better to move into a condominium...

As a former REH owner according to WEG, I say: It is okay, but only B) class. The neighbors very close. The property very small. Stairs. Narrow rooms. Always a need to coordinate when dividing according to WEG. Stubborn guys in the row, and there is trouble. If they are nice, no problem. You get what you pay for. Karsten

A terraced end house may still have the character of a semi-detached house, but in a middle house, the plots are often only 8-10 meters wide, the garden is correspondingly small or not even present, and you practically sit on each other’s laps. With us, every house is at least 12 meters away from ours, and yet I already find the development quite cramped. This also shows in the parking situation, where you can only park one behind the other. In addition, you only have two façades where you can put windows, and with a bit of bad luck, one is facing north; bright and airy is something else. That’s why I would rather opt for an equally sized condominium; here you can still save something (shared heating, garbage bins, satellite system, etc.) and there is usually a caretaker who takes care of everything. I especially came to appreciate that when I still had a flat. No shoveling snow in the morning in winter, no cleaning the stairwell, taking out the garbage bin, trimming hedges, etc. So if you live similarly close to each other, why should you pay more for it and give up these advantages?

I have now found something in immo; don't know if it's the right one. But do you really want a combined heat and power plant?

Are you aware of that? It's probably with contracting, right? It's not just for the [Riegel], is it?

Because it also has advantages. For example, you don’t have a second rent like in a condo.

At least you have a garden instead of usually a small balcony. Apartments on the ground floor or with a large roof terrace are very rare.

A small garden, yes. But it is also known to have advantages, for example in maintenance. You can grow herbs and some vegetables, which is very difficult on a balcony.

Many first homeowners find it great to sweep their own yard and the area in front of their own front door.

A condo usually has more limited storage options – the basement is separate from the apartment.

You don’t have to annoy yourself with noisy neighbors.

And: at least for us in the new development area, the condos in small blocks were more expensive than our single-family house! Much more expensive, if you calculate the price per square meter. Elsewhere, the prices of newly built apartments are not different either.

Best regards in short
