The floor plan is not that bad at all if it is supposed to be a bungalow. You always lose a lot of space for hallways in those. However, the planner solved the dark center quite well by planning the circulation area there. What do you not like about this design?

Better, but bungalows have their disadvantages with the requirements.
Why not really a 1.5-story house. Relieves the budget and the space

No, unfortunately you still tried. Better focus on a relaunch than trying to bugfix such a miserable foundation.

especially the living area – it’s already cramped. Especially the kitchen is tiny – I have more space in our 68 sqm apartment (and that’s already too tight for us). The small bathroom lacks a shower option and the hallway is only 1.12 m wide (we have just over 1.5 m here in the apartment and that’s often really tight). A children’s room on the terrace is also not really cool if we want to sit there in the evening with lights/conversations etc.

I'll put our floor plan in for you.

What do we have in the attic: Our children's rooms are a bit smaller. That means the kids (3 and 7) have the downstairs area, where they really play. As soon as something is left unattended for more than 3 months, it goes upstairs. Since the little ones like to come up to the attic, they always find "new toys" there. Then things get swapped out.
Also everything that generally accumulates: camping gear, decorations, children's clothes, documents that aren't needed regularly, seasonal clothing, boxes, etc. Somehow I'm upstairs at least once a week.
With a bungalow, especially in a tight space, you have to store your stuff wherever there is space. And that's not on the ground floor.
Otherwise, consider whether the attic could be partially finished. Then you could also add a work corner.
Then think carefully about how much space the children need. Ours have 11 and 12 sqm. That’s sometimes a bit tight, but it's more than enough for them. I just have to get a bit creative ... Pinterest is my friend and downfall.

Honestly, I find both floor plans creepy. They will be dark. In my opinion, the property is simply not suitable for a bungalow either. Was it your wish to orient the living rooms and the terrace to the northeast?

A 1.5-story house with, for example, 8x12 meters would offer completely different possibilities, such as a double garage. Living rooms and terrace then facing south or southeast:
