The bungalow 139 from Hanse Haus is completely barrier-free. At Nullbarriere Planning a barrier-free house also includes a bungalow

About the windows
There is not enough natural daylight for worsening eyesight. How many elderly people sit at the window with curtains drawn?

Your parents still seem quite agile.

Terrace roofing
More windows
Only 1 dining area
Fewer rooms, e.g. no dressing room
Shower behind the door is suboptimal if a rollator or nursing service is ever needed
Sockets at light switch height
I do not like the arrangement of the rooms. The staircase is too prominent

Perhaps your parents should think about it? Please dear parents, give it some thought!

Then please plan accordingly. Mom, please have it planned.

Building a house does not necessarily mean having everything on one level. Please pass this on…

Then the plot has a good orientation.

The only reason my parents want to build is that they want everything on one level and easier to reach in old age. Today, they can’t even get to the bathroom on the ground floor. That is also why a bungalow is going to be built.

Regarding the south/west orientation: My parents have no reason for or against it. Do you have a floor plan suggestion with a south/west orientation, although the terrace is accessible to the east through the kitchen?

And with the covered terrace, gladly, but how within the tight building envelope?

That’s not what my parents mean. But everyone is aware that many windows with large surfaces mean much more work than a few small windows.

It is not supposed to mean that they won’t get floor-to-ceiling windows in the living/dining room; they are marked in the plan, after all. The statement was meant to clarify, but perhaps it wasn’t conveyed, that my parents do not place great value on that and other things like a separate kitchen, garage for cars, etc., are more important to them.

Yes, unfortunately the garage is too narrow. I said that too. But apparently the building plot does not allow for more.

There have been quite a few criticisms of the floor plan. That is the reason why I asked here. My parents are not satisfied with the current plan, but they have no idea themselves how it could be improved. Hence the question if someone here can draw a better floor plan using the suggestions given.

Yes, but more to illustrate barrier-free planning rather than as a concrete counterproposal to the local floor plan.

Full text search aid: The bungalow is the most frequently built house type for people with disabilities. The disadvantage is the large area covered on the plot, meaning a sufficiently large plot size is necessary. The builder is a wheelchair user. A large garage was designed, which is connected to the residential house by a connecting corridor. Advantage: weather protection and sheltered residential courtyard formation for better use during transitional periods.

In my opinion, the building window is the gray area?

Garage 6*6 m
Storage 3*3 m
Driveway 5 m
Entrance to the street
I am not sure what the red 3.04 m means? Unfortunately, the plan is not complete there.

So, meanwhile I have found the source of my memory from yesterday - although currently still for young residents, but otherwise almost 17 meters "long": by
and in the thread by (regarding a bungalow for a family with a child in a wheelchair) also linked several other bungalow threads:

The minimum boundary distance here is probably exceeded by 4 cm to the street as well as to the neighbor at the bottom of the plan; I suspect a tolerance allowance; the building window is consistently 17 meters deep.

Thanks for the links, I’ll take a look at them.
The red 3.04 m means 3.04 m to the boundary/neighbor. According to that, there would still be 4 cm of clearance to maintain the 3 m minimum distance.

Today I sat down and came up with the following floor plan.

(Note, drawn by me as an amateur.) This would bring back a covered terrace. The only thing is the pantry for the kitchen would be omitted, but maybe there are still ideas for that.
