I would swap eating and living
The windows analog

if you leave out the sink area in your example kitchen and take a peninsula or island, the sink would be next to the oven and you would have no work or storage space, e.g. for a kettle, coffee machine
dining table directly adjoins the peninsula/island

bookshelf possibly ceiling high – where the TV is currently located, with a window seat

Yes, maybe it has to be done that way... but now imagine the following situation: - There are two of us without children - We cook at most once or twice a week - We always eat on the sofa while watching TV - We use a dining table as a work table (paperwork, maybe sometimes home office-style, etc.) - I do a lot of sports and need space in winter for a treadmill or bike near the TV - I have tons of books and don’t want them directly in sight Now honestly: Does it really make sense to put the living room in the small corner at the side facing the street? And give so much space to the dining area? And make the kitchen so huge? I just don’t really get a feel for it... for the dimensions and sizes etc. *sigh*

Nope. Makes no sense at all. Then a holiday apartment kitchen is enough. It's similar for us. The fuss about cooking in these forums is completely overrated.

You really want to put the treadmill, the bike trainer for winter, into the heated living room?

Delicious!!!
Planned for hardwood floors?
That will nicely soak up the sweat *shudder* – not to mention the smell with excessive use.

That would be an absolute no-go for me.

Are you sure the house covers your needs?
He’s getting a luxurious playroom and you admit on page 15 that you do a lot of sports and use the treadmill and/or trainer in winter. But I don’t see a single corner for you anywhere. The living room strikes me as really stupid. Think carefully about whether you really want to live like that. A treadmill in the living room all winter – really not. And you don’t just set up and take down such a thing quickly (the trainer rather).

That you don’t need much kitchen is okay. Then I would install only a small kitchen (by the way: we are only two as well, but we practically built the house around the kitchen – but we love cooking and enjoy having guests, so that fits again).

No one is saying that you need a big kitchen. Just take your plan and turn the G into a single row and a peninsula. Then add a coffee machine, Sodastream, coffee maker or toaster or blender for the protein shake. Then it gets tight to find another place for preparation.

Ok, dining table is not an option. You have to know that. Not everyone who lives alone or as a couple eats on the sofa. Then maybe a counter with bar stools is really sensible for you. Then it doesn't fit with the sofa.

Why do you even want a dining table? Wouldn't a reading area with shelves, chair, and desk be better?

Draw a kitchen. Consider what you have fixed on the countertop because you need it daily. Then add 2x60 cm countertop space that remains free and a piece on the left and right of the stove. Then look at dining corners in the kitchen. Whether a counter or a small dining area. Pay attention to the depths. Does the sofa still fit? Or you really swap reading with kitchen. If you cook so little, you don't have that much to carry. The bookshelves can be closed on one side and on the other you can partly install doors. Then there would be enough space for reading, treadmill, and rollers.
