This is how ours is also fastened. I definitely did not want a cheek in front of the window.

But it only works with a narrow window, I think.

The stair vibrations are transmitted perfectly into the masonry there. That would NOT work at all for me.

No, the bolts are rubber-mounted in the wall. That means there is an additional sound insulation/vibration damping between the wall and the stairs.

And a general question: Why would that be so bad? Because of possible cracking or because of soundproofing?
