Should the radiation of the Netatmo doorbell be adjusted at the access points?

We were too stingy for a Doobird and decided on an Akuvox R26C. I have already integrated it once as a test run with us and it works great. Only the commissioning is a bit fiddly when setting up the doorbell for the first time. The image on the phone is very choppy because it only updates about once per second. For a price of just 225€ (on Amazon) for the surface-mounted version including LAN and camera, it is, in my opinion, an unbeatable overall package.

Let's put it this way: The WLAN APs where you can actively influence the radiation pattern are rather not intended for private use and I wouldn't want to have them in the living area (purely for aesthetic reasons). However, I would also consider switching to a wired system, and yes, the parts from DoorBird are comparatively expensive – although, compared to the electrical giants like Gira & Co., they almost come across as a bargain – but they work well and are sensibly equipped. The aforementioned Akuvox would not be usable in our case at all, as the field of view is too narrow. once presented his solution .

It always depends on the intended use. The Akuvox fits perfectly for us. Additionally, we don't want an isolated solution that requires installing a separate tablet/intercom system in the house, but rather an intercom system that can be paired with the FritzBox as a phone. And for that, you need a SIP door intercom. There aren't many cheap ones available. The solution from superzapp is a Goliath/Turm/Dahua, those parts, for example, cannot simply be paired with a FritzBox or turned into handsets for intercom systems.

I am of the opinion anyway that I don't need a station in a single-family house (apartment building is a different matter, of course). When a guest comes, I just go downstairs and receive them, don't I?

Practically, I find the IP doorbells useful only when you're not there to communicate with the person ringing. And it also somewhat increases security.

Anyone who uses a Fritzbox has only themselves to blame. :p The question is whether and to what extent the doorbell should be integrated into other solutions. Since there will be no more DECT phones here, this particular solution doesn’t matter, even though DoorBird supports it, including video. (Dahua, by the way, also does as far as I know, but I haven’t tried it myself.) Since I always have my smartphone with me, it’s enough if it works on that.

That is all correct. Pairing (intercom via landline phone) would only be possible for us through the detour of the smart home system, if at all (not necessary for us). If you want that, like you do, you have made the right choice. Intercom and door opening, however, works directly via smartphone app. I do foresee landline telephony, but who still needs that? (Probably the discussion about the necessity of a landline connection is the same as the one about a satellite dish.)

When choosing the intercom system with video, audio, door opener, etc. functionality, I rather see the necessity of possible replaceability. This is technology that still lasts relatively long but eventually, the same system will no longer be available and then another manufacturer has to step in. That is why I would always plan relatively much cabling (min. 1x, better 2x LAN).
