Dear forum members, next year the expansion of our garden is planned: Plot 600 m², house footprint 100 m² (currently being completed), shed 24 m² is already there. Paving for the parking space ~50 m²,
have it done, you need a large vibrating plate and you have to know what you're doing.
plus a path to the house ~10 m².
I implemented a gravel path with gravel grids. Stylish and much simpler and easier than paving. Excavate, recycling, compact, edge stones, fill with sand, grids, gravel, done. I wouldn’t have dared to pave. That for sure.
Terrace Bangkirai ~30m² (maximum).
Do it yourself
Rainwater infiltration via drainage (1.60m deep concrete rings).
Do it yourself. You can set concrete rings yourself with a few people or use a skid loader. Put one level on the ground, get in, dig away underneath. When the top edge is flush with the ground, put the next one on.
Also terrain adjustment (partially 10-20 cm elevation required).
Do it yourself. You can get topsoil free of charge in the new development area, the skid loader costs €120 per day.
The landscaper also wants to excavate 15 cm everywhere and have it removed, excavation for parking space and terrace somewhat deeper. Due to the 15 cm excavation and terrain elevation, quite a few m³ of new soil will certainly accumulate. On top then roll lawn.
Excavation is not necessarily required for roll lawn, it also depends on your topsoil. You can also till, grow green manure, mulch, till, level, sow lawn.
The total price for everything including material amounts to €48,000 gross, whereby only 250 m² garden area is calculated and the filling was estimated very minimally. So it can easily get more expensive. The removal and delivery make up a very large portion, building the terrace also costs €10k (seems a bit much to me). Now my question, is the price justified? I would have expected significantly less. I would estimate material cost/removal/delivery at €15k (maybe €20k) net, then a pretty large labor cost remains of about €15k-20k net. I find that quite a lot for 2 weeks of work. Unfortunately, the offer does not list material prices/labor costs separately. Maybe you can save at some points, e.g. do you have to remove the 15 cm everywhere when in some places it will be filled up again anyway? Did you pay that much too? I look forward to opinions and experiences. If needed, I can gladly post the offer.
MAXIMUM €10k if you buy stuff like mowers, vibrating plate etc.
