I see it that way too.
It was just a reference to the sentence:

Yes. The operation of webcams is generally not permitted within the EU.....and soon I will enter the camera-monitored area of my neighbor's property (announced with a sign) and sue him because he streams it openly on the internet. That crook, he already has one foot in jail!

The webcam should stay. That way I at least know whether I have to shovel snow or if it's raining and the gardening won't happen. It's practical. I can nicely see my house roof and parts of the slope.

Don't you have any windows?

Our neighbors also have motion detectors all around the house, every millimeter is illuminated. They constantly turn on because our cats roam around. I wouldn't notice if a person was sneaking around because we completely switch off the lights because of the cats. I also consider cameras to be toys since burglars are masked anyway or the image quality doesn't provide anything usable.

We rely on R2CN and shutters – so a level more difficult to break open than the neighbors'.

Fortunately, break-ins are also quite rare for us.

But there are windows. Only my desk is 20 km away and 400 meters higher. Am I still working or do I have to clear the snow before the doctor's consultation starts or can I go into the garden?

Cameras make sense when they are part of a surveillance/deterrent system. Just hanging them up is pointless. You need motion detection or even better, person detection. This way, there are few false alarms. Without notification during an event, it makes no sense. It may help with clarification but nothing more. From a network and power perspective, it should run autonomously (at least for a short period). Storage should be redundant in multiple locations... Good cameras have become cheaper but still cost a considerable amount of money. From around €250 depending on the application, sometimes even €1000. Those who do not want to dive deep into the subject can choose an Arlo system. Although vulnerable (wifi), it offers (depending on the model) light, person, and vehicle detection.
