For the reasons mentioned, I consider cameras to be a waste of money. The same money is better invested in better windows with regard to burglary protection.

I once read a report that said the presence of surveillance cameras would significantly deter offenders. But I don't remember where that was. There are certainly a thousand different opinions on that. I am also considering getting one for the terrace area. Whether it ultimately really serves as a deterrent or, if not, can contribute to clarification is another matter.

I don't need cameras for my house. A truly effective system connected to a security service would be too expensive relative to what needs to be protected, amateur technology is useless. Deterrence is a sales argument and a soothing placebo. Not being scared is the best solution. Good neighborhood also protects. Mechanically time-consuming execution is enough for the average person.

Put cameras on if you enjoy the technology, then it's worth it - although for different reasons.

It only hurts when the burglars realize it inside the house and then frustratedly smash everything to bits.

Public surveillance bothers me a lot, but I'm not a nobody either.

Burglars will probably be able to distinguish between professional systems and some kind of cheap Chinese stuff or the cloud crap that is currently popular.

In order for the camera to act as a deterrent, it must be visible before the burglars are already in the garden. Once they are in the frame, they just keep going.

Definitely. Without at least RC2N, you don’t even need to start with cameras, unless of course their primary purpose is different from burglary protection and deterrence. Yes, even here in this thread there are several opinions. I am also on the side that cameras don’t really deter and hardly help with clarification. At most they deter opportunistic thieves; other groups from the scene are, IMHO, rather attracted by cameras. Well, TV also suggests that nowadays it’s enough to hang up a camera from manufacturer XY and you can see everything live in at least 1080p and communicate with the burglar.
