For the reasons mentioned, I consider cameras to be a waste of money. The same money is better invested in better windows with regard to burglary protection.
We also have cameras but no money
There are tons of cameras at our station. Nobody cares.
Burglars will probably be able to distinguish between professional systems and some kind of cheap Chinese stuff or the cloud crap that is currently popular.I once read a report that said the presence of surveillance cameras would significantly deter offenders. But I don't remember where that was. There are certainly a thousand different opinions on this. I'm also considering getting one for the terrace area. Whether it ultimately really serves as a deterrent or, if not, can contribute to clarification remains to be seen.

Definitely. Without at least RC2N, you don’t even need to start with cameras, unless of course their primary purpose is different from burglary protection and deterrence. The same money is better invested in better windows regarding burglary protection.
Yes, even here in this thread there are several opinions. I am also on the side that cameras don’t really deter and hardly help with clarification. At most they deter opportunistic thieves; other groups from the scene are, IMHO, rather attracted by cameras.I once read a report that said the presence of surveillance cameras would significantly deter offenders. Well, TV also suggests that nowadays it’s enough to hang up a camera from manufacturer XY and you can see everything live in at least 1080p and communicate with the burglar. But very few invest in that, because the cheap Chinese camera for 99 euros can also do 4K and so on. That’s why videos are often available after burglaries but usually absolutely useless.
