The absence of valuables (jewelry, etc.) doesn’t necessarily mean that someone is broke. There are simply people who don’t place value on such things. Theoretically, valuables could have already been acquired before the house was built. I don’t think you can generally say: “They built new here, so they have no money to buy anything valuable.” But no matter what, where, how, or who, it is always desirable not to be affected by a break-in. And you have to protect yourself against that.

No idea. After the first break-in, a WhatsApp group was created here, but I didn't join. I wouldn't notice it at night anyway.
The last time it was discovered in the middle of the night that some people were sneaking around the houses, an alarm was raised over the group. One person fell down the stairs when jumping up and running down.

I tend to stick to the "Home Alone method". We have little cars everywhere here.

When it comes to deterrence, success is hardly measurable. So it's more about the better, personal feeling. That's also the case when a break-in actually happens. There is nothing to steal and if there is, it's insured, but I don't think I feel good in my house anymore after a break-in. I would only rely on good quality for data protection reasons and deal with the technology! If the recordings (even just from your own property) are accessible on the internet unencrypted, it is a case for the GDPR and you don't want to have that trouble on your hands.

Correct. It is mainly about the personal perception.

And also correct, you have to deal with the technology. So have CAT7 laid to the desired positions in advance.

I don’t understand? With appallingly bad quality there is 1) less data that 2) then even needs to be protected.... What does the General Data Protection Regulation have to do with it if I intentionally or unintentionally put my own data on the internet? Exactly - nothing! Or are you afraid that your own dog or child could sue you?

At our place, the burglaries happened at times when all the neighbors set up their bunkers at 7 pm by closing all the shutters around. Of course, then no one notices anything anymore and the burglars feel unobserved.

I have already considered whether a 500W LED floodlight would be more effective as a deterrent instead of cameras.
