Thank you very much for the detailed answer. Can you also use push-buttons instead of switches everywhere in conventional electrics? Push-buttons surely have an advantage over switches in the retrofit of smart home radio solutions like Z-Wave.

May I ask how much you spent on your approximately 100 Z-Wave components including the central unit?

Hello KingSong,

I wanted to bring up the topic again. Which central unit do you use for Z-Z-Wave? A Raspberry?

How have you all solved the wind sensor integration with Z-Z-Wave? Blind manufacturers recommend that the blinds automatically go up at a certain wind speed.

I am surprised that people commit to wireless communication in new constructions. For new builds, KNX is definitely recommended. KNX is a standard that many rely on and therefore you always get replacements.

Radio is rather more expensive... Especially in a new building, it is better to install cables.

It’s the other way around. With the same functionality and conditions, KNX is, if anything, only in the mid-range when it comes to costs.

But if money doesn’t matter, then it’s usually proprietary systems and also wireless in a new building... illogical but the current situation.
