You can of course determine the brightness yourself when pressing the button. So either the previous state is restored (that's how I operate it) or as you prefer on the scale from 1-99%. My actuators for the light, for example, also have a dual function: if the light is dimmed to, say, 30% and I want 100%, I just need to press the respective button twice quickly in a row and it jumps to 100% without the light turning off in between.
So far, I have never had a single problem with whether any actuator triggers cleanly or the respective state is displayed.
Thank you very much for the detailed answer. Can you also use push-buttons instead of switches everywhere in conventional electrics? Push-buttons surely have an advantage over switches in the retrofit of smart home radio solutions like Z-Wave.
May I ask how much you spent on your approximately 100 Z-Wave components including the central unit?
