Pure theory is useless here. Noise is almost everywhere. Our neighbors have now moved the bedroom to the south facing the garden instead of the street because they could hear the freight train from far away and the neighbor opposite was making noise with car doors as early as 5 a.m. We don't hear anything from the railway because our bedroom is also on the south side. Outdoors, children can be worse than the highway. But the highway can also be bad. We also have it 300 meters as the crow flies, but to the east. The wind rarely comes from there and it is usually cooler then, so you go inside anyway. On Saturdays, the neighbors greet each other with lawnmowers; that can be annoying too. Instead of the highway, we rather hear the suggested sound of the sea—it is pure psychology how you sell it to yourself: disturbing or something you eventually don't notice anymore. That's why I linked Kati's noise problem here too, because everyone perceives it differently, and may even get so worked up that they end up emotionally exhausted. Ultimately, though, it has to be a personal decision how to deal with it.
