It’s not the volume, but the noise itself. As written above, volume per se doesn’t bother me… We also have a very loud wine cooler here .. doesn’t bother me. By the way, I would love forest noise that is secretly my dream… to live by the forest. But here that is not affordable / feasible.

So in my measurements on our property, it was basically continuously 37-40db during traffic breaks, even when there was really no traffic at all - simply due to the ambient noise. Objectively speaking, it is therefore not "loud" at your place or my app is much more sensitive / shows too high values. I can't really understand that your friends confirmed to you that it is supposed to be "very loud."

But you yourself also wrote that it is more about the noise for you. I know the feeling too, but if I were you, I would really try to see if the problem solves itself over time.

What if you install a water feature? The splashing, bubbling, or rushing might be able to drown out the noise.

Good idea!

By the way, I just measured in the old garden. 24-26 dB. So sorry, then it is loud here…

No, it may be louder in comparison, but it cannot be loud according to decibels. It is your comparison. People make comparisons: before, after... better, worse, or maybe better? Wait and see, do your thing. Install a decentralized ventilation system in your bedroom and set up a trickling fountain if the imaginary sound of the sea doesn't work. See where you stand next year.
