If we are honest, we gave the architect too much leeway. We had the problem of an extremely low knee wall, absolutely wanted 16 sqm children's rooms each on the upper floor, had given the architect a budget guideline and also trusted him. This is what came out. The tender has been running according to the information since the beginning of February, he always wanted to wait for a counteroffer for the only shell construction offer, but nothing came.

The child is not yet in the well. The architect costs and the time – this is a lesson learned. I think we will simply start all over again.

Such square meter numbers come together quickly when planning your ideal house. Kitchen 16 sqm, dining area 24 sqm, living room 20 sqm, stairs, guest bathroom, hallway, wardrobe… then maybe an office. Bam 100 sqm.

Because of the knee wall, it was important to me that the children's rooms are 16 sqm. As silly as it sounds, and bam, the ground floor is huge.

or something like that :D
there are good reasons why older houses have small rooms.

What does the architect say about the result? If he had a budget guideline, he should know that it doesn't work like that.

It is about an architect over 60. An apparently conservative person. We deliberately approached him because we thought he wouldn't build castles in the air. The first contact was in February 2020. It then took a year until the planning submission. The biggest disappointment, however, was the tender. Everything dragged on forever. No idea how many people he even contacted and especially when. Tomorrow we have an appointment with him and, based on the thread progression, we have decided to tell him that we are terminating the construction project. We expect no more than a "sorry, that's due to Corona."
