It is quite likely that the tendering process did not work particularly well. However, I must also say that at the end of April I alternatively tried to get prices from three general contractors myself. Two immediately said they were overloaded, the third wanted to submit an offer with price adjustment clauses, pointing out that a start of construction before mid-2022 was unlikely.
By the way, it is apparently still the case that – for example the roofer – hardly anyone is willing to commit to final material prices. "The price is fixed on the day of order." It is the worst time ever for building a house.
But three is not exactly many. I was in contact with 10 :-)
