Sure, but then you have to put parking spaces, etc. next to the house... that won't make it any airier. A professional needs to handle that.

On our street, everyone has it too, sometimes no sidewalk in front - except ours. We stand out from the crowd. Then plan an outdoor living room. That is living space with a lot of quality. Why ignore that? I also really love working outside. Why sit in the office when the weather is nice.

Outdoor area - you don't have much - you'll have to see what you do. Often green is simply chosen with irrigation and robo mower, or gravel, natural is also possible with little work. e.g. prairie garden

Really first make a spatial plan. What needs to go where

Is the slope of the property parallel to the street?

What are the indicated retaining walls in the northeast? Existing?

Are there photos of the property and surrounding buildings? Or also an aerial photo with property boundaries from the Geoportal?

By work outside I did not mean gardening – I like that too – I mean earning a living with a laptop and pen

@ haydee: I like the idea of the "outdoor living room" and I have added it to my list. @ icandoit: yes, there is a change in elevation in the northeast (that is where the vineyard is, which you can see on the site plan as parallel lines). Currently, this is executed as a dry stone wall. The street "is basically the slope." I have attached a picture from which, I think at least, you can see this quite well.

A question about the architect: we are currently not sure how the construction will be done in the end (prefabricated house from the general contractor, solid construction general contractor, or architect management). We have now made an appointment with a prefabricated house provider who focuses on custom-designed houses. Do you think this will bring us a step further, or should we go directly to an independent architect? Which service phases would that be for the room program, the first floor plan, etc.? (HOAI 1-4 ??). Or would that be a concept consultation compensated according to effort?
