So, and then I come back with my southwest-facing rooftop terrace and say: I would never voluntarily place the garden in the southwest. Much too hot in the summer.

There's some truth to that, on the other hand, a typical summer in northern Germany means 20 degrees and rain ;)

On the other hand, you can create a shady spot under a tree in a garden.

Okay, of course I can't judge that.

You're funny, if the sun is blazing down a tree doesn't help at all. Besides, in summer I don't want to be able to stay in my garden only under a tree...

But it may really be the case that this is a more pronounced problem here in the south than elsewhere.

Or people simply perceive it differently.

The trend is towards the "second race" :)

One should definitely think about the orientation. But not only consider the location of the garden in terms of how much sun the garden gets. That leads to even more. Usually, the floor plan is then also oriented towards the garden. Meaning kitchen/dining. It doesn’t have to be that way, there are other options as well.
Anyway, what I want to say is, when considering the orientation, one should also think about what type of person they are. Where do I want what kind of light conditions and when, and what does that mean for the floor plan.
Some things come naturally with the property, but as long as you can choose between properties... you can think about it.
