You pig. But that was a classic setup What's the point of the basement, which is insulated to KfW55 standard? Not everything has to be just about energy efficiency

I think every discussion has its reason for existence. And also the tedious topics that hardly anyone talks about. Sorry, Niloa. Nevertheless, some are probably quietly relieved when having children doesn’t happen so quickly - if you read how tight the financing is. There is hardly any wool left for the first little shoes.

Having a few extra rooms just in case is not a problem, is it? Unless you are coming close to the limits of affordability with the additional rooms, but I can hardly imagine that, since children also cost extra (and reduce income). We also have 180 sqm and 6 rooms here and there are just two of us. All the rooms are used. It was clear from the beginning that no children would come. I never wanted any, my husband doesn’t really care. There was a time when he asked a few times, but he is definitely not the father type and now the topic has been quiet for a long time. The many rooms were rather a coincidence, but I prefer a bit more space, so you can easily accommodate unexpected things, like a study, for example. The other way around is definitely more difficult.

Two or three rooms are also useful without children. Childless couples have more time and money for hobbies.

Normally, financing should be arranged so that in an emergency everything can be managed with one salary + max. wage replacement benefit.

You cannot plan for all eventualities. Whether it is unfulfilled desire to have children, illness, or sudden child blessing (recently there were triplets).

I think you can still make good use of two additional rooms even without children. When the children move out later, you have those rooms available again. The "child phase" lasts only about 20-25 years, then the children go their own ways. We will then simply have a second bedroom, for example if someone is sick, and the other room will become a fitness room, possibly with a sauna.

Yes, we also planned with a children's room, but we don't want any children. It will become a yoga room and an office. You never have enough space anyway. But we often hear that two people living in over 200 m2 would be decadent. However, I need the space and think it's good.
