Is it maybe possible to move the landing stairs 50cm to the right?
Moving the stairs is a good idea, but I have the feeling it would ruin the entire floor plan – especially upstairs it wouldn’t work properly anymore (space for the bathtub, the children's room door...).
One consideration would be to leave the stairs open at the entrance area downstairs. That would at least give some space underneath for shoes. But I’m afraid it wouldn’t look good. Otherwise, the hallway is wide enough. Then there would simply be a wardrobe on the wall between the guest WC and the office. Not perfect, but that’s exactly how it currently looks in our apartment.
The 2 steps above the door – is that serious? In my opinion it looks sh...ty.
This small slope doesn’t bother us, see cross-section drawing.
In practice, it comes down to the everyday passage of about one meter clear width, which is easier to make with a hinged door than dragging a huge thing. I often even see the folding sliding door with an outward-opening hinged wing.
I will ask about the folding sliding door and also listen to the architect’s opinion on it. Maybe I will still be convinced.
First of all, the floor plan with the lift-and-slide door is adapted. Now it also makes sense to swap sofa and TV / lowboard. That way you can comfortably look out into the garden from the sofa.
