Except for a few minor items, we already have the offers for almost everything. So we know what we are getting into, and the bank has already agreed .

Furthermore, the plans were even already submitted to the district office, and currently there is only one problem with the granny flat. However, our architect is already addressing this. Approval from the adjacent neighbor is also not an issue at all, because they have a garage in the same spot and 3-meter-high bushes at the end of our property. Additionally, our property is about 20 cm lower than the neighbor’s.

So you don’t have to worry about the financing , but thanks for your suggestions anyway.

There are certain programs where you can insert a floor plan and the program then converts it into 3D so that you can also walk through the rooms, I actually think that’s a good idea. That way you get an impression, including the location of the windows and doors, whether you like it. My Home 3D was quite suitable for that, for example, but it takes some fiddling to figure out how it works... maybe the architect can also create something like that for you.

In a plan where the garage counts as living space, I'm out... because the personal wishes are too foreign to me.

Hello Yvonne,

it's a pity that you are out and that our wishes are too strange for you. You can't understand why we are building 2 such double garages, and I can't understand that this throws you off so much.

However, I would still like to explain to you what intention lies behind this. Maybe it is also interesting for some of the other readers and for those who have no understanding for our project.

My girlfriend and I each own a car for everyday use. In addition, we have had an American classic car for a few years now, which currently rests over the summer in my mother's garage (she kindly parks outside for it, thanks Mom) and stays there over the winter where I happened to find a proper parking space for the 5.30 meter long and 2.20 meter wide baby by chance. As you can surely imagine, this won't be possible at the neighbor's (and you can't find anything within a few hours), but usually somewhat further away (currently 35 KM...). Now the car is in a hall that I can't get into alone or which is not really desired.

In addition to these 3 cars, with a bit of luck, a convertible might join us sometime, then we would already be at 4 cars. Now in the left double garage with 9 meters length stand my normal car (5 meters long) and my girlfriend's car (4.2 meters long) and behind them will be a grill, lawn mower and similar garden tools, a little wood for heating and at least 3 sets of tires for cars, so garage 1 would already be occupied. Now I would like to use the time outside the driving season to carry out repairs and improvements on the classic car. So in the second garage there is now the classic car and my mother's convertible, which is currently wintering at my mother-in-law’s. In the back corner comes a small workbench that will house various parts (liquids, cleaning agents, various spare parts) for the classic car and offers a little space for tinkering. This way I can also do some work on the car over the winter and don’t have to move cars every time. My mother’s convertible will eventually find a place in the currently occupied second garage at her home, it’s just not free yet. If no convertible comes for us after all, I can park the classic car in the middle of the garage and remove all sheet metal parts without having to carry and store them somewhere. If a convertible does still come and my mother’s also has to be accommodated, then my everyday car will stay outside, and here I thank my parking heater.

The two double garages will be separated in the middle in order to create good and very nice air conditions for the classic car, so that in winter, for example, our wet cars don't have a negative impact. Sectional doors measuring 5.5 * 2.25 meters will be installed in front of both garages, so that it is possible to drive in and get out properly with 2 cars. The left garage will also get a 2.5 * 2.25 meter door at the back so that we can easily bring everything in and out. We have decided not to put a garden shed anywhere. Nothing else comes to mind right now.

I hope I was able to shed some light on this and that there is at least one or two who understand this. By the way, for the men here who should understand this (if there are any): my girlfriend understands and supports the plan. I love her (but not only for that ...)

Have a nice evening and best regards
Martin

We have already done that. We quite like it, but it's just something different when you actually live in it, which is why I originally created this topic, so others could take a look.

Regardless of the nice idea of wanting to use such large garages sensibly: Is it allowed to store things other than vehicles in the garage?! What does the law say about that in your federal state..
