Go with the heart, the mind is overrated. The decision seems clear to me. Since partner choice has already been mentioned in this thread: I don’t know anyone who is deeply satisfied with their choice of partner who chose that partner with their mind.

Yesterday I entered the house and the scent of a good pizzeria greeted me...

The typical stone oven smell, with fresh ingredients like basil, etc....

These smells can have a positive effect on people, life is just too short :-)

That's how it has to be.
So I could never understand the argument about the smells either...

And we don't have any grease deposits on the living room furniture either, even though our kitchen prominently extends into the living room in the apartment and is located on the inside of the building, so it has no window.

Well, if the heart has no experience with building houses, then the brain should take another critical look at the project before sinking half a million. :D

No one "sinks" money for a house construction with a detailed decision about whether a kitchen is open or closed. Money is only truly important when it is no longer enough for a living. Everything beyond that is a means of design. Better to use the freedom of design than to sanctify the means and confine oneself to a mental narrowness boxed in by walls of insurance and security. Looking back at the middle of my life, the paths of the heart I have taken and not taken move me more than any sunk money. That always came back, unlike a missed path of the heart.
