Exactly what I mean... Experiences Has anyone of you already had experiences with plaster who also knows about brick slips. If a hole already appears from a bicycle then even more so from a soccer ball. Brick slips are much less sensitive to that. Has anyone already had experiences with a house over a longer period? The new buildings always look great but I am interested in how it looks over a longer period of time. Regarding moisture diffusion, however, I have read completely different things that precisely because brick slips are ventilated from behind the moisture can be transported away. But I am happy to be proven otherwise. Ventilation is anyway the be-all and end-all, I just always thought that for a brick slip facade a controlled residential ventilation system is more luxury than necessary and for plaster almost a prerequisite.

My parents-in-law have a white ceramic clinker. The house was built in 2005 and still looks like new today! There is nothing wrong with the facade, it is nice and bright and looks clean. Friends of ours moved into their brightly plastered house in 2011. They chose a very expensive plaster that supposedly cleans itself and looks great. It was very expensive and almost comparable to clinker. Well, the facade now looks awful.... Especially on the west side/windward side, it's really bad... Such gray streaks on the wall, down the window sills, etc. The guy is really annoyed because a repainting is now supposed to cost 5,000! He’s so angry that he’s now considering adding cladding afterwards. There is also the monolithic construction method, by the way, then you don’t have any ETICS!

Yes, with the monolithic construction method, the masonry has to be quite thick to meet the insulation value. In our current neighborhood, a house like that is being built right now, and next to it another one with [Holländer Klinker] (my favorite), and I'm not very impressed with that. So based on what has been reported, I would say that if the budget allows, I would rather choose [Klinker]... Thanks in advance for your answers.

A falling bicycle certainly does not make a hole in the plaster of an ETICS. It would take something much more significant.

That a rendered facade needs to be painted from time to time to look good should be clear to everyone. I would now estimate 5-10 years, it certainly depends on x factors. Brick cladding should also look good after 30 years without needing any work on it.

An inexpensive alternative is supposed to be ETICS plus brick slips.

We are also currently dealing with the topic but are still at the very beginning of the research.

For a Kfw70 house, a stone thickness of 36.5 cm is usually sufficient. Depending on which stone and which ETICS you use for construction, you can quickly reach this thickness.
