In our construction area, the entire ETICS on one house was torn off again because it was not fully glued over the entire surface. There are also plenty of potential sources of errors with the facing shell, especially the base sealing at floor-to-ceiling windows or exits, which I often notice negatively and was only correctly executed in our case after several requests.

When the interior plaster was done at our place, it was cold outside, below zero degrees. Inside, the heating was turned up strongly to 25 degrees. Water drained out at several points from the drainage joints to the outside. Overall, the building dried very well, most of the water was of course ventilated out.

By the way, I never claimed that the gentleman installs the WDVS like that, but that he has already renovated several cases where cheating occurred during installation!

You used mold as an argument against an ETICS system and supported this with the opinion of an expert. At no point did you mention shoddy workmanship. So don’t twist the facts now by saying you talked nonsense!

If we stay objective, it can be stated that ETICS often cause problems in practice, mold inside, algae outside, sensitivity of the thin plaster layer, once hit with the ladder, hole in it, since Styrofoam absorbs water the facade must be well clear of moist soil. If executed completely correctly, it works, but often it is simply not completely correct. The brick facade is certainly the most durable in terms of maintenance effort. However, it is also the most expensive, if we disregard larch wood claddings or similar. And you get a thick wall. Either you make the house bigger or there is less space inside. The aerated concrete wall with plaster on the stone does not have the disadvantages of ETICS, is energetically sufficient, only slightly more expensive, the wall thickness lies between brick and ETICS. Those looking for value for money should choose that. Those who want the best should have brickwork done.

Aerated concrete is the worst choice in terms of sound insulation. That may still be acceptable in rural areas on the outside, but at the latest for the interior wall, one should consider another material.
Monolithic with filled bricks would be another idea. Or sand-lime brick + ETICS and reduce the typical problems with thick-layer plaster.

to make it clear again. For our single-family house, we are only getting the bay window in [WDVS] design. I am not generally opposed, but I do believe that if the work is done incorrectly, it can lead to serious building defects. The worst part is that these building defects only appear after many years and by then any claim to warranty has expired.
