Hello Does the apartment already exist as shown in the plan?

Is there a plan where at least one length measurement can be seen?

Where should the washing machine and the dryer go?

That sounds like an excellent opportunity to redefine the kitchen-living room boundary.

The apartment was built in 1996. As far as I know, a floor plan with exact measurements is not available.

The washing machine and dryer issue could be the reason why the abstraction would have to remain. The washing machine could still be integrated into a cabinet in the kitchen, but I don't know if there is also a dryer.

Yes, I think so too, it is somehow oddly shifted.. Maybe the kitchen was once closed and someone removed the wall..

I would definitely keep the storage room. Otherwise, the apartment doesn’t have much storage space or room, and where are you supposed to put cleaning supplies, bags for daily shopping, collectors for waste paper and the yellow bin, etc.? Always running down to the basement for that? Nope.

I think having two dining areas with the limited space is pretty stupid. A kitchenette parallel to the upper wall, below the window. The length is flexible there. A small corner up to the entrance to the storage room. At least one tall cabinet could go there. So a small L-shape, and thus extend the kitchen slightly into the living area at the top of the plan (depending on how much value the mother-in-law places on the kitchen). Dining table in the free space between the L and the kitchen door, and only one dining place. Possibly with an extendable tabletop and otherwise just a small table that doesn’t get in the way and is sufficient for one person.

More or less:

On the left, if desired, you can add more tall cabinets. But that makes the whole thing look very bulky, and if you want to have the dishwasher and stove at eye level for age-related reasons, you have to take every chance.

Under no circumstances would I put up a wall in such a small apartment. Not that many people hang around in the kitchen, you just have to be disciplined and put everything straight into the dishwasher.

Of course, you could also consider sacrificing the current kitchen door. It’s a bit further to carry your groceries then, but you gain space for the dining area. And having two doors into the same room so close together doesn’t really make sense. It doesn’t have to be a big renovation. Instead of the door, have a carpenter build a shelf in the niche and done — gaining storage space!

I think it’s a good idea to accommodate one or two tall cabinets in the storage room.

But what I wanted to ask:
Will the flooring also be modernized so that the boundaries of the rooms can be changed?
And where is the water connection?

Why anyone would want to hide in a small little closet when the world with a whole 24 sqm could lie at their feet is a mystery to me :D
