And what if there's a power outage and you don't have a side entrance?

Then you either have bad luck and have to wait or you simply have a side entrance - we have it and therefore never a problem.

But the thing with the power outage is also something... when was the last time you had one and then in combination that you are out of the house?

well any door needs 1 lock with a key. if the front door doesn’t have one because of security, then the side entrance door will just be opened... there is also the solution with integrated lock radio system, where the opening is done by battery. power outage doesn’t matter, only bad luck if the system fails. so better to be able to open somehow with a key. we already had that 2-3 times that the door didn’t open like that. the reason is very likely that the door wasn’t closed properly. the burglars won’t get in through the expensive front doors with lots of flashy stuff in the visible outside area but through the well hidden patio door with privacy screen...

It hasn't even been 2 years for me, so it can definitely happen.

I would also like to have such a system, but my wife is very skeptical. Also because acquaintances have something like that and keep struggling with outages.

Exactly, that's why I didn't spoil my beautiful door with a profile cylinder on the outside.

We have neither outages nor other problems – and two side entrance doors where keys are kept.

I have had an Anykey from Ikon here for years... it is used quite often in offices and is also relatively secure... just as secure as a coded lock usually is
