The purpose for us is less that I see who is there before I open the door, but rather that I see who rang the bell when I am not at home. But yes, it is also practical to know, for example, if members of certain groups are standing at the door (without wanting to offend anyone).

What conclusion do you then draw from this information, which is worth 1000€ or more?

My IP cam cost a fraction. Does the same. Whether I am at home or away.

Well, the thing can do a little more. And I have a few functions planned with the help of the camera, when there is some time again.

The surcharge for the camera was €360, which was still acceptable. What do I deduce from this? For example, if the postman rang the doorbell, I can stop by there directly on my way home and pick up the package. If a neighbor rang, I can visit him right away if I'm at home. If someone else rings, I can call them directly (depending on who)...

And especially with the postman, it was already very valuable because I know if the guy rang or not. Particularly practical when it is claimed again that nobody was there.

Even if you’re not at home, for example, you can open the garden gate if it’s the postman. Also, if you were on vacation, you can see who rang the bell. Not everyone can see who’s ringing from the window.

We have a video intercom and find it great for our property and access concept. For security reasons, however, the front door is not connected to the server, only the garden gate is.

All of this is also possible with an IP camera.

Photos sent to the phone when the doorbell rings, or also when presence is detected in front of the gate/door.

Opening doors etc. via relay modules connected to the CAM.

So I still see no reason for a 1000Euro (or more) telephone system in a single-family home.

Doorbell button, relay module, door buzzer, IP camera – nothing more is needed for a basic setup. (LAN and power should be available)
