Two venetian blinds or a fingerprint scanner - which would you choose?

Quick question by the way because we had this topic at home recently... What happens to the fingerprint during a power outage? Will I then be standing in front of a locked door?

Some apparently have a backup battery that can open the door in a power outage. And you can leave a key.

In principle, you can always do without the wind sensor. It's just a question of whether you want to take that risk. The coverings are approved up to wind force X. If something breaks then, it is the dealer's warranty. From wind force 8 upwards, it's a storm and covered by building insurance. In between, it's your risk, that's what wind sensors are for... with the small coverings and the positioning on the ground floor, I would do without it, unless it's a very exposed location. Many neighbors here don't have a wind sensor at all, even with monstrous formats.

An automatic lock with electric opener is sufficient. But €1200 will not include a motor lock either. If the lock is already there anyway, it's only another €500 to the fingerprint reader. I wouldn’t stop short at that distance.

Key?

Yes, exactly, key. But you don’t take that with you if you have a fingerprint, right? Otherwise, I wouldn’t need something like that if I’m always carrying the key anyway... Think a bit beforehand.

You have to decide that yourself. It's not primarily about saving the hassle of carrying the heavy key. Just leave it with the neighbors, the bank, grandma, the doormat

In that case, I would also choose the venetian blinds. They are simply worth their weight in gold when facing south. Wind sensors are overrated. I don't have one either, and so far everything has gone well. When a storm is forecast, I proactively lower them. Otherwise, they can definitely withstand a bit of wind. A fingerprint scanner on the front door sounds tempting, but when I see the neighbors standing at their front door and needing 5 attempts before it opens, it loses its charm.
