Is a TAE socket still needed nowadays?

Same here; new development area, no fiber optic, DSL maximum 6 Mbit, effectively 3.7 Mbit. Now, after the house connection was installed, not even that is bookable anymore. The area was designated for "private sector expansion" in 2016. A third party is working here with vectoring, but has not considered all cable branches in its planning, and the effort apparently no longer pays off for individual, newly added houses.

LTE is available via radio with 21.6 Mbit/s - on good days. Vodafone Gigacube would be a solution as an emergency option. However, anyone who relies on a public IP (for example, required for online gaming) will not be happy here either.

Anyone here have experience with the Congstar Homespot...? Otherwise, I’m switching to carrier pigeons and signal fires.

If DSL IP + LTE is available for you, then just ask Telekom about a hybrid connection. I had that in 2015. I had DSL light and additionally LTE (without limitation). I just don’t know if Telekom still offers that. I’ve been on VDSL for a few years now and that directly "solved" the problem.

That was actually the plan. 6,000 DSL was not enough for me and during the construction phase I had prepared for Hybrid Magenta S. My direct neighbor, house to house, has that. Now, after the APL has been installed and I wanted to book, they apologized to me that it was no longer available. "No more ports free." My neighbor effectively has 21 Mbit/s download. I can call mom on the landline. Because the 6,000 DSL purely cable-bound is also no longer available.

The written complaint about it is with Telekom as well as political nudges to the broadband coordinator of the district and to the city/local council. Will that bring anything? I do not know. At least I am looking forward to the upcoming Telekom bill for 800 EUR, while before the start of construction and still during the construction phase up until the installation of the APL, I was misled about the availability of the products at my location. Civil engineering work, multi-utility, .. I would not have made all that so costly if I had known that in 2020 I would effectively be equipped with a can phone in the end.

But probably this is the wrong place to vent. Maybe sooner or later someone here will go through something similar...
