Hello everyone,
who of you has exterior blinds and what is your experience with them? Our living room will face south and accordingly, the heat protection in summer is naturally a concern for me. We are now considering using exterior blinds instead of roller shutters as a shading measure.
I can recommend [Raffstore] that is exterior blinds, although of course there are many other opinions on this and it also depends on personal perception. For every aspect, you will hear and read pros and cons.
On the south side, I would absolutely insist on installing [Raffstore]. In our old house, we also had large window fronts and consciously installed nothing during construction, kind of like in Holland, everything open and visible. We liked it but in summer both the heat and the glaring light are an issue. Furniture can fade, etc.
Because of the stepless adjustment option, you can set it accordingly each time, which I found very pleasant.
How sensitive are these to wind on windows one meter wide?
At a width of 1m, that is probably never a problem. Of course, any installed element can cause problems at some point/somehow but [Raffstore] are installed millions of times, so you should worry less about that.
What about burglary protection?
Of course, they do not offer classic burglary protection for someone who really wants to get into YOUR house. However, such a person will also overcome other obstacles if they specifically targeted you or your house.
In my opinion, this still offers protection against ordinary burglars because most of these burglaries are committed by people who only have a screwdriver in their pocket. Additionally, it means a time effort and/or noise, which burglars do not like.
Do they help much more than roller shutters regarding sun protection and at the same time a free view into the garden?
Both keep the sun out; with roller shutters you can completely darken (possibly bedroom), but with [Raffstore] you can adjust the amount of light and view as you like.
