How much should a new gas boiler cost?

your post about heat pumps was purely monetary. What you pay, etc. Good that you try to keep your footprint small. Respect for giving up cruises. I don’t take cruises but wouldn’t give them up if they were that important to me. Is your old car broken? Or do you want to switch from a still roadworthy one to an electric car? That would make little environmental sense. At 2000km/year you could probably take a taxi :p

We are approaching off-topic :D But no, it’s not exactly broken. We currently have 2 small gasoline cars but don’t need 2 cars anymore. We plan to get rid of both in the medium term and buy an electric car. But that is really uneconomical at the moment because we drive so little. Now we are moving closer to family, and then the 550 km trip will also disappear. But we have to change vehicles in the long run because our family car is currently an Audi A1, and my husband drives a Smart. The family car will be too small, we hardly ever need the Smart, but we also need an automatic transmission because my husband can’t/isn’t allowed to drive a manual. So an electric vehicle makes sense.

So I can still understand the topic change from gas heating to heat pump heating, but what do children, house building as a whole, cruises, and cars have to do with it? The idea that gas is fundamentally better than a heat pump for large houses unfortunately lacks any logic.

Just objectively calculate the costs in acquisition and consumption for each type of heating, and if they (as expected) are close to each other, feel free to choose the environmentally friendly technology.

Your heat pump consumes energy. Your house construction consumed a lot of energy and resources. So that can never be compensated. If you want to read up on children, look up birthstrike on Google. A child (currently) has about 58 tons of CO2 emissions per year over their entire life. So 10 times more than a car per year. Once again for clarification: I acknowledge everyone's right to family planning and do not want to influence anyone in any way. The question is where to start. Usually with the things that have a big impact and not those that make up 0.0000x%. As hard as it is. Childless people are actually the "Greens". But childless people are certainly not childless for this reason.

If we all forego having children, we can also install gas boilers and oil heating systems again because then we no longer have anyone to preserve the climate for. The Earth doesn't care much about it at all. A few million years after we go extinct, it will be fine again.

I think when we say "large," we mean different house sizes. I am talking about houses with 500m2 and more (large single-family and multi-family homes). Why a heat pump is not so sensible there? It is very logical: because higher flow temperatures are needed due to power losses. Thus, the efficiency decreases. Also, a large peak output is required, for example, when everyone showers in the morning...
