How is the construction boom? Still there?

And then in the following years you had to work your ass off on the construction site every weekend with all the helpers until the last one in the circle of friends or family finally had a house... I honestly prefer to spend that time with my wife and child and am not eternally indebted to 50 people...

Here in Wolfsburg, a new residential area "Sonnenkamp" with 3000 housing units on 150ha is currently being developed. For single-family houses, terraced houses, and apartment buildings. I am curious to see how the marketing will go. Until before Corona, there was a very high demand here and corresponding prices. Compared to previous years, there was a lot of influx and the city's image had changed to that of an attractive place to live.

Now, the largest employer has very commuter-friendly home office rules (up to four days a week on a monthly average), so you don’t necessarily have to live on-site.

However, there is no sign of a downturn among the construction companies and planners. I have been looking for someone to do basement sealing, insulation, and drainage for months...

Just take a look at Steimker Gärten. Finished forever ago, still not everything sold because demand has collapsed. Regarding construction companies and planners, we are in the same boat: We can't find anyone either...

You see, perception can be so different. These people helped you, these people give something back. Whether it is being invited to family gatherings, the children playing together, or help given in times of problems.

That is no longer appreciated today... you are looked at completely bewildered by craftsmen and even more so by neighbors when you say, "Painter, floor layer, paver, terrace builder? Nope, I'll do that myself with a few friends..."

That is why there is so much complaining that building has become incredibly expensive... because even for two temporary steps in front of the front door, a "professional company" is hired, which of course doesn't come out for less than 1,000 EUR/day.

And so many people spend their free time with their wife and child not in their own home, but in a rental apartment... because they don't want to be eternally indebted to 50 people ;)

Somehow I get the feeling that [EINER] always has to have the "last better word."
