At 32 years old, studied before, and saved nothing? I am 28, also have a degree, and have already saved considerably more equity. After graduating from high school (probably your year is 88 or 89), it is possible to finish your studies by 25 and already have the first job. So it's not that far-fetched. Your girlfriend, at 27, could also already have 5 years of professional experience.

Woulda, woulda, bicycle chain. If it didn't work, then it didn't work. The OP has made it clear that he and his girlfriend are currently saving. That is good. Whether the equity saved so far is sufficient is another matter.
