The generalization of civil servants does not exactly show a pronounced ability to differentiate. Apart from teachers (what would parents actually do if they weren't civil servants and went on strike) and civil servants in administration, people in professional fire departments, police, judges, etc. are also civil servants. Please keep that in mind.
Otherwise, I stick to my statement... 1500€ all in will simply be difficult to impossible. The 300€ already go for ancillary costs. That doesn’t even include maintenance or similar.
I think we agree that it’s not about: firefighters, police officers, teachers. Besides, not all teachers are civil servants. My wife is an employee in the public sector. She thinks it’s "great" that another teacher receives more for the same work.
First of all, congratulations on the second child. Even if you budget 800 €, something must be wrong.
- Internet, insurance alone cost about 100 - 150 € monthly.
- that means you spend 650-700 € for the three of you on:
- food
- clothing (the child grows faster than you can buy replacements)
- repairs (reserves for service, TÜV, car repairs, replacement in case of a new car)
- leisure activities (eating out, cinema, etc.)
- vacation savings (outside of Balcony countries)
- gasoline
All that with 650 - 700 € for three people. Doesn’t a Hartz IV recipient have more available? Something doesn’t add up.
