These discussions about civil servants and their earnings are pointless! Everyone knows that compared to employees in the private sector they earn much more, enjoy more benefits, and have much less risk. Nevertheless, each of us could have taken that path, so there is no need to come around with envy and resentment afterwards.

In place of the OP, I would also first look for a plot of land, pay it off, and then plan further. Existing properties in the region are sometimes more expensive than new builds!

I consider it a rumor that employees earn less in the private sector. Especially if one has studied.

Because you have no idea about the average salary ! You can try googling what a graduate earns. And then compare that to the working hours, responsibility, and risk of a civil servant.

Little pressure from superiors (unless one puts it on oneself), no short-time work, no relocation associated with operational layoffs, secure progression to the target salary by "serving time," family allowance, total flexibility regarding family, high pension compared to the state pension, practically unfireable.

On average, that is probably the case, I know several civil servants in the higher service and I am certainly aware of other stories, including bullying and being pushed into early retirement (is that actually called early pension?). But yes, the average civil servant could be worse off.
