And where do you want to conjure up such a house? Back then, as usual, you'd need 800-1000m² for that. With €333/m² in his building area, you can figure out yourself what such a "cheap" house really costs. The fact will be – it doesn't exist. Old building + renovation as you have planned roughly costs as much as new construction. At least outside the boonies, where land is cheap (<€100/m²)…

If the land in the area already costs about €250 - 300 per sqm, it will be difficult to find a property for that price.

Everything is doable, we are doing it right now too. Working Monday to Friday, Saturdays and vacation days at the house. Set realistic goals, push yourself, persevere, and have imagination; don’t let setbacks stop you. If you don't see that as an option, you have no pressure to suffer, then it isn't important enough to you.

it strongly depends. If Lower Bavaria Landshut is meant, then that is de facto the Munich catchment area.

The prices in Deggendorf, Straubing or Viechtach are quite different again. In the surrounding area, after a first search, you can get a more or less slightly in need of renovation little house for 300 k€.

In Aschaffenburg and the surrounding area, land also costs a fortune; if you are willing to drive 20 minutes, you can find affordable existing properties.

Who would want to live in Heischebrügge, Krummich or Hemschedoohl with the Spessarträuber or the Kahlgründer Bauerntrampeln?
