Thanks, even in the Blum video they don't have trash can lids!
I would really like the electric push-to-open device but two things bother me about it:
-The part is expensive and requires a standby current
To what extent the 3.5 kWh per year is economically/ecologically justifiable is something everyone has to decide for themselves. You should consider how you behave otherwise. For example, an old video recorder in standby will consume much more.
-What use is the automatic opening of the drawer if I then can't open the trash can lid with my hands full?
Do you really need the lid? If the trash starts to stink, it's high time to take it out. The underside of the lid usually looks anything but clean. Do you always clean it thoroughly?
Questions:
Can the drawer of the pull-out also be mounted slightly tilted (front a bit lower than the back), so the drawer would always open fully?
Front lower will not work because the rail already rests at the bottom on the cabinet, but the back could be a bit higher. Then you need to file a hole in the rail a little bit and put something under the rail. However, you accept that the front does not fit evenly on the cabinet when the drawer is closed, unless you tinker accordingly with the front mounting.
Apparently there is no solution at IKEA for automatic opening of the trash can lid. Does anyone know solutions from other manufacturers that could be installed in the IKEA pull-out which mechanically open the trash can lid when opening?
Then you will have to take a completely different solution, e.g. from Franke. Or make something yourself.
In my current kitchen (also about 20 years old) I also have such an automatic push-to-open device, but purely mechanical, not electric. You have to tap a lever under the drawer with your foot (which you still have free), then mechanically, driven by spring force, the drawer opens. When closing the drawer, the spring is tensioned again.
I will look into whether such a mechanical solution can somehow be realized in the IKEA drawer.
Anyone with good ideas, please get in touch.
I always find simple mechanical solutions better. Some people simply won't like it visually.
The spring is a problem because it would compete with the spring of the self-closing mechanism of the drawer.
