Floor plan improvement suggestions for a single-family house on a south-facing slope

The classification as a full story has nothing to do with whether you finish the basement with living spaces - but exclusively with how much it protrudes from the (original) terrain.

We are aware of that, which is why we have extracted both variants that are relevant from the development plan.

Being young, by the way, does not mean you can really give full power permanently when doing your own work.

That’s clear. There is already experience with various projects. As soon as the work is properly planned, it significantly reduces the stress during implementation. From coordinating the renovation of an existing heating system to planning and calculation, as well as implementing an intermediate floor made of HEB beams for several tons of load.

We take the advice on board, but the plan with a lot of own work remains in place.

It’s better to go to the architect with a wishlist than with concrete drawings – for such supposed "preparatory work" there is zero percent discount.

We have already created a detailed requirements list and have a draft from the architect. But the draft is not only 50 m² larger, but also only fulfills a fraction of the points on the list.

Anyone who has worked in a workshop knows how important the necessary free space is, as one can not only bump into something, but potentially face more serious consequences, so the required movement space must definitely be provided there.

These are high-quality machines that do not find space in a shed or similar. Furthermore, such storage always carries the risk of condensation damage to the machines.

Currently, the machines are used exclusively privately, but a commercial use in the future cannot be completely ruled out. To operate these in a general residential area, compliance with TA Noise and TA Air among other things must be observed, so the basement would be optimal in this regard.

A level driveway would also be provided in this case, for example to easily unload wooden planks. A commercial operation is also located in the neighbors’ basement.

Regardless of the floor plan / basement, etc.: you are bringing a high fire load with your hobby workshop. Have you considered how everything can be resolved in terms of fire protection?

Or the entire list of wishes cannot be sensibly accommodated in fewer square meters? When I look at the furnishing of the children's rooms, the dimensions of the furniture do not correspond to the reality of the planned room. Otherwise, I agree with most commentators here. The budget does not match the house and the planned terrain modifications, despite own contributions.
