If a provider can only handle their own system under the condition of accepting the Earth as flat, then the system is poorly designed and I would have "no further questions, Your Honor." The other log house folks are more adept, and that provider would be out with me. Or I would have another carpentry company build the roof, wood is wood, whether it is processed by Meier or Müller. Some providers have weaknesses, then you sometimes have to combine. Wait until the person addressed responds (or ask yourself e.g. at Stommel). By the way, who did build with?

Overall, I have the impression that you lack the willingness to relaunch. But there is simply base material that cannot be sufficiently repaired with patching. However, I am uncertain as to how much of this lack of flexibility lies with you or with the provider and their system. Many log house builders do not convincingly manage the transition from the hunting cabin to current energy-efficient house standards; here, the timber solid house builders who are willing to forgo the charm of the plank sauna are generally significantly further along.

Yes, exactly. Instead of clockwise, counterclockwise. However, because of one meter in the other rooms, I probably wouldn't make a large dormer after all. But maybe one of the floor plan specialists here will find a solution for a different staircase that actually provides something significantly usable with a 50% dormer. My main point was to suggest that one shouldn't just optimize locally (a dormer for the bathroom, a dormer for the bedroom) but also occasionally question the entire house and see if new possibilities arise.

The provider can also offer a completely different wall construction – but then it has nothing to do with a log house anymore...

We could go with KfW 40 with them, one of the big "pros" :)

That is a good question... We are currently practically on the last attempt to come together. The black peter here is rather the development plan or the eaves height. In the end, probably both. Or all three. Therefore, I hoped here once again if someone has an idea that is ultimately usable and that the manufacturer can also manage. Spinning around in circles for another month would be neither in our interest nor in the provider's.

There are some good manufacturers who could build what we envision – however, we don’t have 500k just for the house in the budget. Therefore, some unfortunately drop out right away. I also have a catalog from Stommel here, but had them on the "too expensive" list. Am I wrong there?

Being able to completely redesign the stairwell by placing the staircase in a dormer there is definitely a great approach that we have not yet considered. Thank you very much for your suggestion! :)

I’ve looked up the roof structure so you can imagine it. They do continuous cellulose insulation and achieve good values that way...

The question is whether that should really be the priority. The subsidy has shrunk considerably by now, making it far less attractive. And in any case, the energy standard should be clearly subordinate to the living value. And due to the eaves height, you simply don’t have much room to give. PS: I also find it interesting that the website heavily advertises "without foils" and then the roof structure has two of them ;)
