How about 2 large dormers? The elaborate part of the dormer is not the area on the dormer roof, but all the transitions.

If a vacuum cleaner knee joint is too shabby for you, I would consider "saving" at the fat (about 70 cm thick?) roof structure ;-) By the way, I don't see any dormers in the design shown in post #66. Maybe you should reconsider the provider. I'll bring into the thread, along with the question of whether Stommel also offers shell houses :)

On the south side, this is currently one of our considerations – on the north side it would rather be two separate ones, because the staircase does not necessarily need a dormer, and in the end not enough usable space would come into the bedroom and bathroom – right?

I wouldn't think in isolation here. Currently, you have the start of the staircase at the top floor directly at the front door, where everyone brings in dirt. With an overarching dormer, you could change the direction of the stairs and start them at the lower floor, and, for example, place a shoe rack under the stairs. And presumably, a large dormer would be cheaper than two smaller ones. The question is rather whether you gain enough space with 50% of the length in the other two rooms.

If we have added it correctly, the roof structure is about 66 cm. Since our favored manufacturer (Nordic Haus) can only work with overlay insulation on the log walls and not also in the rafters, a reduction is unfortunately not an option there.

Currently, we have no dormers in the plan because we are not sure at all how...

But at this point a question for you pros: Is TH measured based on the roof tiles, or do I possibly have to add photovoltaics on top of that?

In the meantime, we have also spoken with other providers. Then other problems arise elsewhere... So far, there hasn't been one who convinced us—either because they build with foils (then I don't need a wooden house) or can only work with drywall in the entire upper floor. We are reluctant to give up the favored manufacturer. Without a satisfactory solution in the upper floor—so even if you have no more ideas—our last option would probably have to be something else... You are (unfortunately) right about that.

I am trying to imagine it right now... so the stairway would be at the wall corner where the utility room door starts, keep the stair shape and position but reverse the running direction? Did I understand you correctly?

With the 50%, based on the current building dimensions, we would have 5.48 meters to use. The hallway has a width of 3.15 plus two times 10cm wall thickness — so there would remain just over a meter each for the bathroom and bedroom. Although there is probably something lost there since the dormers also require space for the, let’s call it layman’s terms, "construction"...
