But that doesn’t matter when it comes to maintenance. For example, the heating connections sometimes need to be screwed on and the meter replaced. If the heating system is too close to the wall there, it won’t be approved. A drop clearance _must_ be planned in front of the electrical box…

Do you possibly have a rough "minimum dimension" for the HAR in mind based on your many years of experience? Or are there DIN standards that must be met?

I find log houses beautiful. But the topic of self-building is critical with these because everything has to be well planned. Simply chasing and plastering is not an option. You can’t retrofit sockets you didn’t plan for the installation date. And so on. That’s why I would only carry out the project with a proper architect who also has experience in this area and supervises the construction. A construction company’s site manager is not that; they usually do not represent your interests, but those of the construction company. Here you would be saving money in the wrong place.

I probably didn't always listen sustainably to the man during the technical planning :D

He knows the technical connection conditions and has dealt with them a lot. It is supposed to be a monoblock heat pump and he then needs little floor space apart from the domestic hot water storage, much could also be wall-mounted - he is also exchanging ideas about this in a technical forum... I just roughly sketched the WC/house door replacement idea, the utility room could gain almost a square meter of space that way. He also really wouldn't complain about the slightly more space, he says :D

I find the personal work on log walls vastly more difficult to carry out than on solid walls. With stones, I can easily hide mistakes and a hole can be quickly replastered. With log walls, I wouldn’t know at all where to hide the cables.

That's correct - the electrical lines are already milled in the factory, all sanitary fixtures come surface-mounted. The manufacturer builds over 50 houses a year following exactly this principle, and the employees there have nothing to gain by deliberately giving us bad advice. Empty conduits are planned right from the start to allow for retrofitting later. The man is a trained electrician and now an engineer, has a huge passion for all things technical as well as woodworking, and has been occupied with this for months. The entire wiring plan must of course be finalized beforehand, then the house is produced and assembled on site like Lego within three weeks – for the interior finishing we would then have to get inspected ourselves or request expertise from friendly trades, since we want to do most of the work ourselves after the "rainproof shell" stage...
