I don't know where this delusion about the mud and crumb puddle behind the front door in this forum keeps coming from. I have a mat and a shoe scraper in front of it, and that has worked for almost 50 years.
In my opinion, that's enough. My winter jacket is already hanging in the next closet, it doesn't have to take up space there in the summer.
No way, otherwise it would be a top-notch burglar door. And with a garage width where you can only walk next to the car unencumbered anyway, absolutely pointless. No wolves will attack on the eight meters around outside. Men.
Especially in winter (slushy snow) I can partly understand the argument about dirt.. But even with our floor plan I wouldn't know how to do it differently, so the mat has to be enough.
So the 1,000 only refers to the door itself, not the installation, we'll do that ourselves (or a friend of ours). Do you think that's too little? I do have some concerns about security, but on the other hand, the garage will get an electric gate, which shouldn't be so easy to break into. Also, sometimes the front doors are even left open during the day.. at first that was quite strange for me. Everything is still quite 'village-like' around here when it comes to that..
The worst thing is that so many people in our circle of acquaintances swear by a door like that.. I don't stand a chance XD
