I prefer Draft 2.

The granny flat has the garden. For me, having my own house with children and no direct garden access where I can’t keep an eye on them is a no-go.

I don’t like the entrance situation. Entering the door and immediately the stairs. Visually, I don’t like it and it’s impractical. Always walking through the dirt with slippers and socks.

Where is the wardrobe anyway?

: thank you very much for the quick feedback. we also find G more visually appealing

Unfortunately, I can't talk my boyfriend out of the garage/utility room door, he's stubborn about it.. I can hardly see the benefit myself.. Especially since it's just a small single garage.. but he's convinced of the added value.. It only costs us roughly a thousand more.. If it makes him happy, he can have it. XD

: The wardrobe will probably find its place in the U of the stairs. Originally, a wall was planned there. It seems to have been lost in the updated drawing. I just noticed it myself.

My brother and I also grew up without my parents having direct access to the garden. Basically, we lived similarly, except my parental home is a real two-family house: grandma and grandpa lived downstairs, my parents, my brother and I upstairs. Later, we rented out the apartment downstairs to others and even then we still used the garden for grilling etc. Only now in old age have my parents moved downstairs themselves.

I can understand your objection, but probably due to my own experience, I don’t really have a problem with it.

The granny flat will also get a terrace area, but not the entire garden.

Under the U of the stairs, the stairs do lead to the basement. It is your decision. My experiences with toddlers doable, terribly impractical.

I don’t know where in this forum this delusion about mud and crumb puddles behind the front door always comes from. I have a mat and a shoe scraper there, and it’s been working for almost 50 years. In my opinion, that’s enough. My winter coat is already hanging one cupboard further; it doesn’t need to take up space there in the summer. No way, otherwise that will be a first-class burglar door. And with a garage width where you can only walk alongside the car unladen anyway, absolutely pointless. No wolves will attack him in the eight meters around outside. Men.

The space for the wardrobe is intended as described in this excerpt. Above, on the wall between the kitchen and living room, I could also well imagine a chest of drawers for shoes or similar.

I am currently in the process of recreating the floor plan in a program on the computer to try furnishing it.

Hm, I probably wouldn’t let a toddler go out into the garden alone even if it were accessible directly from the living room... I would probably still go outside with them XD

The staircase so close to the front door certainly has its disadvantages, especially in winter, but I fear it’s difficult to solve it differently given the floor area.
