Leipzig is a great city. We were there for a long weekend in the summer. Also at [Cospunder See] etc. by now you have good companies there like a Porsche and BMW plant I mean etc... as a Cologne native, I liked Leipzig better than Cologne.

My wife lived in Belgershain as a teenager; I can't get her back there anymore :) Her statement: there isn’t even a bakery. You are always dependent on a car, even for the little things.

Thanks for the tips, it really looks good, there are still free plots. Unfortunately, it is already Saxony-Anhalt, which means a higher real estate transfer tax. The Bitterfeld region is developing great, several companies are settling there (among others for battery cell production), so a lot will happen there. However, it is not on our priority list, but we will keep it in mind as plan B to purchase a plot there. Thanks!

It's interesting how different the sense of price is... we won't spend 300k€ for a plot. I'm originally from the Frankfurt area, and a friend said it starts at 700€/sqm there too... who should pay that? Salaries in FRA and MUC aren't significantly higher than our incomes now. With a standard house and 500sqm plot, you're quickly at 900k-1 million €? How long are you supposed to finance that and at what rate? Or do you look forward to a possible inheritance? In the mentioned cities, I would never consider buying; you'd rather rent and treat yourself to three luxury vacations a year.

As a native Hessian, I don’t feel drawn away from here anymore either. Strong region that even takes the sausage off Berlin’s bread. Besides the mentioned companies, there will soon be Beiersdorf, Amazon is already there, Eppendorf centrifuges – only in Leipzig. Dresden and Jena are also just an hour away, where there are even more potential employers.

I have become a genuine advocate of the region and “Wossi” – a pity that Leipzig is still often underestimated – but maybe that’s also good, otherwise the prices would be even more horrendous.
