As long as the bank cooperates, you can afford a house of this size. But please not with such a drastic repayment.
The granny flat is great and can certainly be rented out well via Airbnb.

And what some might forget here: The place won’t lose value in the coming years. If worst comes to worst, or if you and your descendants would rather explore the world than serve the bank, you can always sell and travel through Southern Europe with a camper.
Jokes aside. As long as you and your bank can keep up with the purchase price, I would stick with it.

So if it had sold for just under 800k, I would have been very surprised, even though I can't really judge the area or only know the other side of the Rhine with the wine route from vacation. You can move in there immediately. Even if the photos might be somewhat enhanced, our new build doesn’t (yet) look that great!

What surprises me is how the seller, being an agent himself, could be so wrong with the initial price expectation? Now it seems to be heading towards a starting bid of 925 with a direction towards 1 million.
