A wonderful dynamic has developed around my thread. I am pleasantly surprised that it is such a polarizing topic and would just like to throw in my current thoughts on our shading concept. The children's rooms, which have not yet been mentioned, are located above the living room I previously attached and would receive regular roller shutters facing the garden (and thus south). These roll up faster, are wind-resistant, and, if necessary, darker. Since both children's rooms have another window each facing different directions, I consider a potentially necessary complete darkening on the south side to be uncritical.
I would equip the three doors to the garden in the kitchen/living area with external blinds but still need input for good shading of parts of the terrace and thus also the two doors in the living area. Regarding an awning, I think it would be even more sensitive to wind than the blinds and therefore would no longer provide sun protection in strong winds. Would a permanently installed sun sail possibly help here? Or is one of these 'terrace roofs' a better solution?
Since the location was also a topic, I unfortunately have to add that we live in one of the hottest places in Germany, so this is a very important issue for us, which we have unfortunately not dealt with at all so far.
Then I hope my post does not get lost ;)
