I’m not doing that at all. I take the topic easy, make my little wink, explain the world to myself, and you come with child death! Maybe you should examine your reactions to nothing noteworthy

Examining requires light... Unfortunately, my parents raised me to be a light-shy creature, if you know what I mean. ;)

A wonderful dynamic has developed around my thread. I am pleasantly surprised that it is such a polarizing topic and would just like to throw in my current thoughts on our shading concept. The children's rooms, which have not yet been mentioned, are located above the living room I previously attached and would receive regular roller shutters facing the garden (and thus south). These roll up faster, are wind-resistant, and, if necessary, darker. Since both children's rooms have another window each facing different directions, I consider a potentially necessary complete darkening on the south side to be uncritical.

I would equip the three doors to the garden in the kitchen/living area with external blinds but still need input for good shading of parts of the terrace and thus also the two doors in the living area. Regarding an awning, I think it would be even more sensitive to wind than the blinds and therefore would no longer provide sun protection in strong winds. Would a permanently installed sun sail possibly help here? Or is one of these 'terrace roofs' a better solution?

Since the location was also a topic, I unfortunately have to add that we live in one of the hottest places in Germany, so this is a very important issue for us, which we have unfortunately not dealt with at all so far.

Then I hope my post does not get lost ;)

Hm..... for the kids, it might not be bad to have [Raffstofe] as well to better control the light entering; roller shutters would only be light or dark, and for homework, playing, etc., I would rather prefer [Raffstore]. In general, I tend to think that it is often overdone for children, but in this context, I would probably be more generous. Better a few fewer PC games or dolls, etc., and instead this option. Of course, an awning or a sail is definitely more sensitive to wind, but I still consider them a practical solution. I see technical precautions like wind sensors more as gimmicks because I don't want those things to keep triggering unnecessarily. Many years ago I treated myself to that luxury and turned the thing off after one summer. The awning is only out when I'm at home and a tornado is approaching; furthermore, an awning does not fly off the wall with every little breeze. When the weather is unstable, I don't have the awning out anyway. I believe there's a lot of scaremongering and fear used again in sales. I haven't seen too many awnings lying around on the street. We had two large awnings in operation for 30 years, back then from Arabella, and never had a problem with them. A fixed terrace roof is naturally a great thing because you can sit outside under it in any weather. I like a glass roof and a [Markise] underneath/above it. The advantage is that in the evening and at night no dew settles on the furniture and other items, and you can flop down on the same chair in the morning. Without a roof, it is damp, or you always have to put everything away. With a roof, it's like another living space in the summer.
