Exterior blinds for shading in summer

I don't think so, I am looking forward to a lot of sun in the living room (on the south side). We will get roller shutters, but they will only be lowered at night, if at all.

Well then, have fun in the long hot summer with a heated-up house from which you can't get the temperature out anymore because of good insulation... But to each their own.

Exactly, everyone is different. If it is too warm for me, I open the windows at night for a draft. That cools it down again. But we have the bedroom facing north, so it doesn’t get that hot. But for us, it is also rarely too hot. We find 25 to 30 degrees in the living room comfortable.

It only works if it is noticeably cooler outside. I would like to remind you that in 2020, all records for tropical nights in Germany were broken and this is steadily increasing. So opening the windows sometimes has no effect at all.

Unfortunately not here with us, there were a handful of tropical nights last year. But we also live in the countryside. Even tropical nights have around 20 degrees, so it cools down with a draft.

I have a 5m wide lift-and-slide door with a roller shutter on the south side facing the terrace, didn't think it through while planning, have been living in the house for 3 weeks and just ordered a facade venetian blind at the beginning of the week... even at the current 25 degrees it's too bright for me and also too warm directly in the sun.

So if you don't want to constantly lower the roller shutter, I would plan for a venetian blind. Apart from the cost, I actually find the double option optimal. If it should be too windy, the roller shutter can still be used as a last resort.
