Out of interest, because we have a house from the 50s and that will eventually be due: - Was there already a drainage system back then, do you have pictures of it? - How was the wall in the ground waterproofed so far? It looks like the soil was directly against the bricks? Or was there already a bitumen layer or something similar?

There was already a drainage: loosely laid clay pipes in the gravel bed. Additionally, a black coating (presumably bitumen). In the visible base area are clinker bricks, in the soil lime-sand stones. Presumably, the clay soil was put back again and only in a small strip around the house is permeable soil to be found. During the renovation, the soil and stones (e.g., basement stairs) were noticeably damp, while the drainage inside was even dry. We hope that a new drainage and the waterproofing against pressing water in combination will make a significant difference in the basement.

I do not quite understand the sentence. The current living and dining room still has three windows, only the door to the old conservatory is bricked up. The new living room will also have three window or door openings, just none facing the direct neighbor (east). The new kitchen will then have a window to the east, but open to the dining area, and this one a window to the west and open to the living area.

In the meantime, the entire house has been excavated once.

The drainage was replaced and everything was backfilled.

New light wells were also necessary.

and the floor slab.

Then the balcony slab was demolished.

This was followed by formwork and reinforcement for the floor slab.

Which has now been freshly concreted today.

Next week, the upper floor will be built so that soon the carpenter can start with the roof.

The roof of the extension is covered, all windows in the existing building have been replaced and installed in the extension. The facade builder has insulated the extension and is working his way through the existing building.
